Cybersecurity and the Chamber of Commerce
All is relatively well here at Woesnotgone Meadow, where everyone has above average bandwidth. Most towns of a certain size have some form of a Chamber of Commerce. Although the Meadow does not have a vast number of businesses, there are quite a few. Jerry is the president and keeps everything running smoothly. Our little municipality has not been targeted for an attack, thankfully. Other Chamber of Commerce departments have not been that lucky. The Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti Region
Cybersecurity, Cell Phones and Your Vehicle
All is relatively well here at Woesnotgone Meadow, where everyone has above average bandwidth. In the Meadow, our residents all have one of the many variants of the cell phone. We naturally have the iPhone and Android, and Margie has an old-school flip phone. Our residents use this for navigation, calling family, listening to music, and a variety of other uses. These, while useful, have tended to be a rather important tool in daily life. While these have grown in use and prom
Cybersecurity and Attacks on Law Enforcement
Woesnotgone Meadow has their own police department dedicated to our municipality. They maintain the peace and enforce the laws. Although the work they do is primarily manual, as this involves working directly with the public, face-to-face. There is also the back-end of the work, involving among other things the computer systems. While the vehicles are at risk mostly while on the road, the police department computer network may be attacked at any time, any day of the week. The
Cybersecurity and 3rd Party Attacks
All is relatively well here at Woesnotgone Meadow, where everyone has above average bandwidth. Baylor Scott & White Medical Center is located in Texas. This is far from the northern region where the Meadow is located and the winter is long and cold. The medical center was organized as a joint venture managed by the United Surgical Partners International (USPI). As we know from the prior attacks on medical facilities and offices, these are rather blatant targets due to several
Cybersecurity and University Hospital Attack
All is relatively well here at Woesnotgone Meadow, where everyone has above average bandwidth. In the Meadow, we have three nearby universities. Most visitors there are on-campus for a robust, enlightening education. At times, we do need to visit the hospital for care with the university cases, which require a bit more expertise than at the local urgent care facility. The University of Maryland hospital system was recently attacked with malware. This took the form of ransomwa
Cybersecurity, Ransomware and 3rd Parties.
All is relatively well here at Woesnotgone Meadow, where everyone has above average bandwidth. Our residents regularly visit the doctors. Not that we are overly concerned to a fault, however, we do attend our regularly scheduled appointments. One area we pay particular attention to is our eyesight. Without our eyesight, we can’t read the menu at Margie’s Coney Island. The local eye clinic is managed by Gerry, who pays particular attention to detail. There was an eye clinic th
Cybersecurity and Rats
Yet another reason to monitor your computer: RadRAT will give you an interesting day Remote access tools (RATs) are an interesting tool to maliciously have placed on a system. When these initially were created years ago, the focus was to gain access to the target’s computer and turn on the webcam and/or microphone to record the unsuspecting user. The next iteration was coded so the “On” light was toggled off, even though this was on. As time passed the technology improved, an
Cybersecurity, Autonomous cars and the Police
In the Meadow, we enjoy driving our vehicles. Sometimes on the weekends, we just get in the car and drive to the lake. This provides for a nice getaway. As we are as familiar with these, a new shift with the vehicles is occurring. These vehicles are moving towards being autonomous. The residents could tell the vehicle to “Go to Margie’s Market” and they could knit the whole way there and back. Most residents are suspect of this, until this is fully vetted. One aspect of this
Cybersecurity and Alaska Attacks
All is relatively well here at Woesnotgone Meadow, where everyone has above average bandwidth. Here in the Meadow, we haven’t had too many cybersecurity incidents. Possibly we just aren’t on anyone’s radar...yet. Two towns in Alaska have not been this lucky lately though. These attacks crippled the operations of the towns. Having your PC or smartphone infected, and not functioning is disruptive enough. Having two town’s infrastructure down is certainly not a pleasant experien
Cybersecurity and College Attack
All is relatively well here at Woesnotgone Meadow, where everyone has above average bandwidth. In the Meadow, the one service we don’t have on-ground is a University. The Meadow does have an extension office where we can take certain classes and there’s always the online option. These institutions have a plethora of data on the students, which could be targeted. The colleges also hold a significant amount of money from the student’s tuition and other sources. There is a colle
